One of my favourite things to do when I travel is discover great coffee and amazing food.
I'm a huge coffee lover, and my kids and I are complete foodies. One of our favourite ways to experience a new city is by slowing down over a good coffee, sharing delicious food and finding cafés that each have their own unique personality.
This list includes a mix of well-known cafés you'll probably see all over Instagram and TikTok, along with a few hidden gems I discovered during my travels (and a couple recommended by locals). Each one offered something different, whether it was incredible pastries, beautiful interiors, unique architecture or simply a place to relax and enjoy the moment.
Tip: If you're planning your own South Korea itinerary, I'd recommend saving these cafés in Naver Map before you go. I've also included each café's Instagram where I could, so you can check menus, opening hours and the latest updates before your visit.

1. Panier de M. Mooni ( 빠니드 엠 무니 )
📍 Location: Apgujeong, Seoul
If you love beautiful pastries and aesthetic cafés, this one definitely deserves a spot on your itinerary.
From the moment you walk in, everything feels whimsical—from the interiors to the beautifully crafted pastries that almost look too pretty to eat.
The café has a relaxed atmosphere, gorgeous natural light and plenty of little corners that are perfect for photos. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast or just a coffee, it's a lovely place to slow down and enjoy the experience.
Perfect for: Coffee lovers • Beautiful pastries • Aesthetic photos

2. Standard Bread ( 스탠다드브레드 성수 )
📍 Location: Seongsu, Seoul
This café was probably one of the busiest places we visited.
We waited in line for quite a while, and I'll admit I started wondering if it would be worth the wait. Once we got inside, it was easy to see why it's such a popular spot.
The café has a warm and cosy atmosphere, with the smell of freshly baked bread filling the space. Standard Bread is best known for its incredibly soft tissue bread, and after trying it for ourselves, we could definitely see why it's so popular. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious.
If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend allowing a little extra time and being prepared to queue - especially on weekends.
Perfect for: Freshly baked tissue bread • Coffee • Brunch • Cosy café vibes

3. Choconavi (초코나비)
📍 Location: Suwon
This café was introduced to me by a local friend, and it's somewhere I probably never would have discovered on my own.
Tucked away in Suwon, Choconavi felt warm, cosy and incredibly welcoming from the moment we walked in. The owner was so friendly, which made the whole experience even more memorable.
As the name suggests, chocolate is the star here. The hot chocolate was honestly one of the best I've ever had - rich, smooth and full of flavour. If you're a chocolate lover, this place is definitely worth adding to your itinerary.
If you're visiting Suwon and looking for a quieter café away from the crowds, I'd highly recommend stopping by.
Perfect for: Chocolate lovers • Rich hot chocolate • Cosy café vibes

4. Madelim ( 메이드림 )
📍 Location: Incheon
Madelim was one of the most unique cafés I visited during my time in South Korea.
Housed inside a beautifully restored old church, it offers an experience that's unlike anywhere else. The soaring ceilings, stunning stained - glass windows and multiple levels give the café a peaceful and elegant atmosphere while preserving so much of the building's original character.
Whether you're stopping in for a coffee, something sweet or simply to admire the architecture, it's a place that encourages you to slow down and take it all in. I found myself spending much longer here than I had planned because there was so much to explore.
If you're looking for a café that's a little different from the usual bakery or brunch spot, Madelim is definitely worth adding to your itinerary.

5. Mil Toast (밀토스트 익선점)
📍 Location: Insadong, Seoul
Mil Toast was one of the cafés I was most excited to visit, and it definitely lived up to my expectations.
Everything on the menu looked so delicious that we ended up ordering more than we had planned - and honestly, we didn't regret it! The café is best known for its soft, fluffy steamed bread, and it's something I'd highly recommend trying if you're visiting Seoul.
The warm, freshly made bread paired with a coffee made for the perfect breakfast, and it's easy to see why this café has become such a popular spot with both locals and visitors.
Like many well-known cafés in Seoul, it can get quite busy, so I'd recommend arriving early or allowing a little extra time if there's a queue.

6. Café Onion ( 어니언 안국 )
📍 Location: Anguk, Seoul
Café Onion was one of the very first cafés I added to my South Korea itinerary after seeing it recommended by so many travellers - and I'm so glad I made the visit.
Set inside a beautifully restored traditional hanok, the café perfectly blends old Korean architecture with a modern café experience. It's just a short walk from Gyeongbokgung Palace, making it the perfect place to stop for a coffee and pastry after exploring the palace and surrounding streets.
We were lucky enough to avoid the long queues, but it's a popular spot and wait times are common, especially during peak travel seasons.
The pastries were just as impressive as the setting, and sitting in the courtyard with a coffee made for a lovely morning.
Perfect for: Traditional hanok architecture • Coffee • Fresh pastries • Aesthetic photos

7. Cafe Pokpo ( 카페폭포 )
📍 Location: Seodaemun, Seoul
Café Pokpo offers one of the most unique café experiences I had in South Korea.
Overlooking the impressive Hongjecheon Artificial Waterfall, it's the perfect place to slow down with a coffee while enjoying the peaceful sound of rushing water. The spacious terrace and rooftop provide beautiful views, making it feel like a hidden escape in the middle of the city.
Unlike many of Seoul's trendy cafés, Café Pokpo is less about elaborate pastries or aesthetic interiors and more about the atmosphere. It's a place to sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery.
If you're looking to experience a different side of Seoul or simply want somewhere peaceful to take a break, I'd definitely recommend adding Café Pokpo to your itinerary.
Perfect for: Waterfall views • Coffee • Relaxing • Scenic photo spots

8. Bomnal Café ( 봄날 )
📍 Location: Aewol, Jeju Island
If you're visiting Jeju, I'd definitely recommend adding Bomnal Café to your itinerary.
Perched right on the coastline in Aewol, this charming little café is known for its stunning ocean views and relaxed atmosphere. It's also recognised as one of the filming locations for the Korean drama Warm and Cozy (맨도롱 또똣), making it a popular stop for both travellers and K-drama fans.
We only stopped in for a coffee, but the view alone made it well worth the visit. Sitting outside, listening to the waves and looking out over the coastline was the perfect way to slow down and enjoy Jeju's beautiful scenery.
Whether you're driving around the island or exploring the cafés along Aewol's coastal road, Bomnal is a lovely place to take a break before continuing your adventure.
Perfect for: Ocean views • Coffee • Coastal photo spots

Final Thoughts
Honestly, I don't think I've ever visited another country with a café culture quite like South Korea.
Every neighbourhood seems to have another incredible café waiting to be discovered, and that's one of the things I love most about travelling there. Whether you're searching for beautiful pastries, traditional hanok cafés, unique architecture or simply somewhere to slow down with a good coffee, there's always another place to explore.
This list only scratches the surface. There were so many other cafés I visited and loved, including Cheongsudang ( 청수당 베이커리 ) , Soha Salt Pond ( 소하염전 ), Rain Report ( 레인리포트 경리단 ), 943 King's Cross ( 943 킹스크로스 ), and the picturesque O'Sulloc Tea Museum & Café ( 오설록 티 뮤지엄 ) overlooking Jeju's beautiful green tea fields. I also discovered plenty of hidden gems tucked away throughout Ikseon-dong, and I'm sure there are still countless more waiting to be explored.
One thing I know for sure - I can't wait to go back and discover even more.
If you're planning a trip to South Korea, I hope this guide helps you find a few cafés to add to your itinerary.
