This was my second time travelling to Seoul, and by this point, the city already felt a little more familiar to me. I’ve always been someone who enjoys quiet time - slow mornings, prayer walks, and space to think.

So on this particular morning, I decided to start the day with a walk from where I was staying towards Seokcheon Lake. Nothing planned. No rush. Just me, my thoughts, and Seoul.

I was staying in Jamsil, and it felt strangely like home. The quiet mornings, the everyday rhythm, and the way the city slowly wakes up in its own time just made everything feel really safe and familiar. From there, I slowly made my way towards the lake, just taking in the quiet streets around me before the day fully began.

A slow morning through Jamsil

I left early and walked through Jamsil Market on my way to Seokchon Lake. This part of the morning is something I really enjoyed. Watching the stalls being set up, seeing the quiet movement of people starting their day, and feeling the city come alive slowly - it felt peaceful and grounding.

I love moments like this. Quiet, simple, unplanned moments where you can just be present without distraction. There’s something about walking alone in a new country that makes you notice everything differently.

Seokchon Lake in early spring

When I reached Seokchon Lake, the weather felt like spring at its best.Soft sunlight, cool air, and cherry blossoms just beginning to bloom around the water. I walked slowly around the lake, taking everything in. I wasn’t rushing anywhere. I was just enjoying the stillness.

I really enjoy prayer walks like this - it gives me space to think, reflect, and just breathe. It’s in those quiet moments that everything feels a bit clearer.

A moment I didn’t expect

At the start of the walk, it felt like perfect spring weather. Cherry blossoms were opening, the sun was out, and everything felt light and calm.
But by the end of the walk… it started to snow.
It felt unreal - like I had stepped through two completely different seasons in a single morning. Spring at the beginning, winter at the end.

Cherry blossoms and snow in the same walk. I remember just slowing down and taking it all in. It felt peaceful in a way I didn’t expect - like I was meant to be there in that exact moment. My heart felt really full. Like everything had paused for a second just so I could notice it.

A very real travel moment

On the way back, it got so cold that I had to stop at one of the market stalls to buy gloves.
The woman running the stall was really kind, and in the middle of everything, she also tried to sell me a bra - which turned into one of those funny, unexpected travel moments that stays with you. Simple, random, and very real.

Just me, Seoul, and God

As I walked back through Jamsil, I had a quiet thought that stayed with me. Even though I love planning and having structure, I’ve learned that some of the most meaningful memories come from moments you don’t plan at all. That morning wasn’t about ticking anything off a list. It was just a walk - me, Seoul, and God. And somehow, that was enough

Final thoughts

That morning around Seokchon Lake reminded me why I love travelling. Not for perfect plans or busy schedules - but for quiet, unexpected moments that stay with you long after the trip is over. Because sometimes, the most unforgettable days are the ones you never planned.
